ISO9001 System Development & Implementation
ISO 9001:2008 (International Standard for Quality Management System - Requirements) sets out the criteria for a quality management system and can be used by any organisation, large or small, regardless of its field of activity. This standard is based on a number of quality management principles including a strong customer focus, the motivation and implication of top management, the process approach and continual improvement.
In reality, the requirements of 9001 are just basic good practice and common sense. For example, you must establish what your customers want (clause 7.2.1) and if you accept their order or business, give it to them. To do this, you need to plan and manage your operations and processes. The people you have must be competent for the work they do (6.2). Just good practice!
cobodo has assisted many organisations, both public and private sectors, to develop and implement a quality management system that meets the ISO9001 requirements in a simple and practical manner. Our typical approach is to review the existing business processes and documentation, identify gaps (gap analysis) against the requirements of ISO9001, and assist in the development of procedures/forms/checklists that will enhance the business operations (not hinder them).
Some of the organisations that cobodo have assisted include:
Western Queensland Consulting Engineers
Lonergan Project Services Pty Ltd
ATOL Consulting Pty Ltd
Engineering Services, City of Gold Coast
RoadTek, Queensland Transport & Main Roads.
A revision to ISO9001 is expected to be released in late 2015, focusing on a new, higher level structure to make it easier to use in conjunction with other management system standards, with increased importance given to risk. Our familiarisation with the proposed standard's requirements will enable cobodo to assist organisations currently certified to ISO9001:2008, to transition to the ISO9001:2015 version efficiently and effectively.
